The Process Turns Into The Plan: Executing Your Boat’s Smooth Transition

Prior to your boat’s transport, our team will initiate contact with the marinas involved to introduce ourselves and incorporate your move into their loading schedules. Should any scheduling changes occur between your booking and the pick-up date, we will diligently inform both marinas about these adjustments.

It is essential to note that all loading fees imposed by the marina are the responsibility of the boat owner(s). We recommend allowing Port to Port drivers to make the final scheduling calls with the marinas, determining the definitive dates and times. We have relationships with many of the marinas and communicate well with them on scheduling.

As your scheduled pick-up date approaches, we will re-establish contact with the pick-up marina to validate the schedule and ensure that all requisite fees are settled. This step confirms that your boat is primed for its transition from one port to another. Our typical arrival time for pick-up is during the early hours, as previously arranged. This early arrival allows for ample time to prepare the trailer and ensure a seamless loading process that aligns with the marina’s guidelines. Loading typically requires 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.

Following the secure loading and strapping down of your boat, we commence the journey. All necessary permits and routing have been arranged in advance, eliminating the need for waiting upon loading. Some of the boats we transport qualify as oversized loads, and as such, are restricted to daylight travel, with a few exceptions.

Generally, we maintain an average daily travel distance of 500 to 700 miles, primarily during daylight hours. Furthermore, DOT regulations restrict our daily driving time to a maximum of 11 hours, and the speed limitations imposed by many states are capped at 55 mph. For shorter distances, most deliveries are completed within a single day, following the same structured process.

While en route, we maintain communication with the drop-off marina to ensure our presence is confirmed on their unloading schedule. Typically, on the day of arrival, we make courtesy calls to both you and the drop-off marina, keeping you informed about the expected delivery time. Please bear in mind that this schedule may be subject to change if the delivery marina’s timing is adjusted. Subsequently, we proceed to unstrap the boat and assist the marina with the unloading process, a task typically requiring approximately 1 hour. Following this, we secure the straps and bunks and head to the next boat transport. The remaining balance for the transport will be billed to you at the close of the day.
